Big time correspondence on tap here from three legendary Hall of Famers on Original Six letterhead, plus a Maple Leaf Gardens personal check from another HOF household name. From Nov. 16, 1940 is a letter measuring 7 ¼” x 10 ½” from the Vice President’s Office at Madison Square Garden, written in flawless pencil by Rangers star Muzz Patrick to a fan explaining how a certain goal was credited. The letter remains in wonderful condition with a touch of aging and the normal letter folds to note. From December 16, 1964 is a typed and signed 8 1/2" x 11" letter from Canadiens GM and HOFer Frank J. Selke (ind. 1960, dec. 1985), who writes to a lady in Edmonton about how he would like to kick Jackie Leclair in the pants for leaving the hospital earlier than he should have and going to a game, and also mentions that Don Marshall and Paul Masnick will be given a chance and Jacques Plante will be playing in the next game. Tremendous content in great condition, nicely signed by Selke in clear blue ballpoint pen. Also from 1954 (Oct. 6) is a Maple Leaf Gardens letter regarding the contract agreement for Leafs practice goalie Donald Campbell, who would be paid $3500.00 if he lasts the season in this role. In wonderful condition, this typed Gardens letter is signed in blue ink by Don Campbell and Leafs Assistant GM and HOFer Hap Day (ind. 1961, dec. 1990). Lastly, a Maple Leaf Gardens check issued to Leafs defenceman Ian Turnbull, dated April 11, 1974, and signed in blue fountain pen by Leafs owner and HOFer Harold Ballard (ind. 1977, dec. 1990).
