Awesome photo-matched Alex Ovechkin 2005-06 Washington Capitals game-worn jersey is from the Russian superstar's Calder Trophy rookie season. The first overall pick in the 2004 draft, Ovie had 52 goals, 54 assists and 106 points in his NHL debut to take rookie of the year honors over Sidney Crosby, who was picked first in 2005. This black Ovechkin gamer with a size 58 flag tag in the neck is matched to three action photos from the Caps' game against Carolina on April 7, 2006, when he recorded his 99th point with an assist. The longer burn mark on the right shoulder shows in one of the photos, and matches on the others show in excess threads on the numbers and surname. Capitals 2005-06 Set#3 Cutting Edge Sports patch is sewn inside the left hem and the square "2005-2006 Season" patch is sewn to the left of the MeiGray NHL patch from the previous unplayed season. Comes with a MeiGray LOA and three 8x10 prints of the photo-matches. According to the LOA, Ovechkin also wore this jersey on April 5, 2006. He had two assists in that game, also against Carolina. Game wear includes another small burn on the right shoulder below the secondary logo patch, black marks on the lower white stripe on the right sleeve and a mark in the black fabric below that.
Details of the other photo matches include loose white threads on the surname letters “ECH” on the nameplate, three small loose white threads on the “8” on the right sleeve as well as the distinctive shape of the white thread sewing line.
