Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Fascinating piece of early hockey history is this 1905 Dawson City Nuggets team photo postcard signed by Norman Watt, a native of Aylmer, Quebec, who played for the Yukon-based team that made its cross-country trek for a Stanley Cup challenge series in Ottawa. One of the Nuggets' most physical and belligerent players in the lopsided two-game loss to the legendary Silver Seven, Watt has written and signed his intitials, "What's his name, Pearl: N.A.W.", in black fountain pen ink on the right margin and marked an X under himself in the team photo on the face of this 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" postcard he mailed to his sister. "Miss Pearl Watt, Aylmer East, Quebec, Can" is written in large letters on the reverse. Verso of postcard has “Oc. 19 05 Dawson, Y.T.” and “No 6 05 Aylmer East Que” postmarks and a one cent cancelled stamp.
