Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Paul Coffey has autographed his 1987 game-used stick which may very well have seen duty in the Stanley Cup final against Philadelphia, which was Paul’s last hurrah with the Edmonton Oilers. The May 12 1987 French date stamp on the back of the shaft of Paul’s Sher-Wood PMP 5030 gamer means that it was either used in the seven-game Cup finals win over the Flyers or in one of the first games the smooth-skating defenseman used played for Pittsburgh after he forced a trade to Mario Lemieux’s Penguins the following season. “Coffey 7” is stamped on the shaft and Paul’s black tape knob remains intact. Paul’s black marker signature sits in the middle of the front of the shaft and his tape job was removed from the now-bare blade of this solid gamer. The Hall of Fame defenseman has also signed the “7” on the back of his black All-Star jersey, a pro-style beauty made up in the style of the 1989 midseason classic with the Edmonton ASG patch on the right shoulder and Maska flag tag in the neck with size “52” written in blue ballpoint.
