Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Dating from the height of Paul Coffey’s spectacular run with the Edmonton Oilers, these game-worn Micron skates were hard-pressed to keep up with their fast and furious owner! One of the most dazzling skaters in hockey history, Hall of Fame defenseman Paul Coffey wore these beauties during his final season with Edmonton in 1986-87, according to our consignor. After scoring 48 times one year earlier to break Bobby Orr’s single-season record for goals by a defenseman, Paul went on to win his third Stanley Cup in four years in the spring of 1987. Great game use shows in wear on the toes and marks on the white plastic Tuuk blade supports of these Micron skates. Each side of both size 10 boots have tons of stitching for reinforcement, a Paul Coffey trademark. If a Jofa lid says Gretzky and a Northland stick makes you think of Howe and Hull, what better piece to honor Paul Coffey than a superb example of his game-used Oilers skates!
