Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Two facsimile signature variations are featured in this big lot of 57 NHL official game pucks for the 1993 All-Star Game. The Rangers’ Mike Gartner replaced Mark Messier in the Wales Conference lineup and took MVP honors in the last ASG played at the Montreal Forum, scoring four goals in a 16-6 win over the Campbells on February 6, 1993. Gary Bettman became the league’s first commissioner six days earlier when he replaced Gil Stein. Fifty of these In Glas Co pucks bear the “Gil Stein” facsimile signature of the NHL’s disgraced last president. Seven pucks bear the “Gary B. Bettman” facsimile signature. The triangular 44th NHL All-Star Game logo is screened on the face of all 57 pucks. The reverse has “Official Game Puck” along the top edge of the orange circle with the NHL shield below it with “In Glas Co” along the bottom. “In Glas Co” appears on the edge of the puck along with “Canada” and “Official”, all in raised letters.
