Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
The talented roster that made up the 1950-51 version of the American Hockey League's Cleveland Barons battled the Pittsburgh Hornets, taking the Calder Cup final series to 7 games, finishing victorious with a record of 4 games to 3. Hockey Hall of Fame netminder Johnny Bower was brilliant between the pipes and the team also boasted future NHL'er Wally Hergesheimer and longtime AHL regular Tom Williams. Williams would toil for 18 full seasons in the minors without seeing action in a single NHL game. Offered is Tom Williams' Calder Cup Championship ring from 1950-51 earned as a member of the Barons. The top features a significant solitaire real diamond with "Cleveland Barons Champions". One shank of the 14K gold ring has "Calder Cup, 50-51" with "AHL Champs" over on the other. The interior of the band displays the 14K stamp and "Ringmaster", the maker. The ring appears to have been resized and measures out to a finger size 9, currently. In near-excellent condition with some minor scuffing and scratches, the ring comes with a letter of authenticity.
