Offered here is a treasure trove of sports items directly from the Montreal area's renowned Madden family. Family members P.H. Madden, C.J. Madden and J. Madden are pictured among their teammates on the 1890 Cote St. Paul lacrosse team in a framed photo. This sensational 13 1/2" x 10 1/4" studio print is mounted in a 19 3/4" x 15 3/4" wood frame and features the names of the players listed on a separate banner at the bottom of the black matte. Tommy Madden appears in the back row of a 6" x 8" photo of the 1931 CNRA junior rugby club mounted in a contemporary 14 1/2" x 13" frame, as well as a photo with his YMCA teammates in a vintage Montreal studio photo montage of the 1929-30 Quebec provincial champion junior basketball team. This great 13 1/4" x 10" studio-mounted photo is presented in a brown matte and displayed in its original gold-colored 20" x 17" wood frame. Madden's vintage leather Champion brand handball gloves exhibit nice wear and remain in outstanding condition overall, ready to take on all comers. His blue knit basketball jersey has a #2 sewn on the back and "South Western" spelled out in individual letters, all in blue and white double felt. The Montreal Amateur Athletic Association's renowned Winged Wheel logo is embroidered onto a blue pocket patch. The logo's gold wheel and red wings appear above a red outline banner with "Jungor Ut Implear" written in blue thread, Latin for Unity is Strength. A yellow third place ribbon from a 1925 St. Paul YMCA athletic meet is followed up with two red second place ribbons from the same meet in 1927. A 1933 ski ribbon completes this lot of vintage athletic heirlooms that comes along with a letter of authenticity from the Madden family.
