After a decade without a CFL team, Montreal re-established its rightful place in pro football when the Alouettes returned to life in 1996. The reborn Als went 12-6 in their first season back, the first of five straight seasons with at least a dozen wins capped by an appearance in the 2000 Grey Cup, a 28-26 loss to the B.C. Lions in Calgary. This Swift Burch game-worn Alouettes jersey has been signed by Hall of Fame running back Mike Pringle, star quarterbacks Tracy Ham and Anthony Calvillo, and other members of the team that brought CFL football back to life in Montreal in the late 1990s. The born tag sewn on the front hem reads "96", though Burch made his Als debut in 1997 and Calvillo joined the team in 1998, Ham's final season at the helm. Defensive end Burch wore this blue Alouettes jersey with mesh panels on the front and back and a "Radicalement Canadien" patch sewn on the right breast. Starter gamer features the old CFL helmet logo sewn onto the bottom front of the red and blue v-neck collar. Als head coach Dave Ritchie has signed the white vinyl "0" on the right shoulder and GM Jim Popp's signature appears on the "9" in the #90 on the front of the jersey that is covered with team autographs, as are the numbers on the back and even Burch's white vinyl surname letters on the blue nameplate across the back. Other signatures include Soles, Chiu, Cahoon, Haskins, and team owner Bob Wettenhall. A size XL Starter tag remains in the neck and Starter official CFL tagging appears on the front left hem along with "48" and "long" fly tags. Great wear with team repairs on each sleeve and plenty of burns, scuffs and paint transfer.
