Canadian football legend Tony Gabriel was presented with this magnificent original Tex Coulter portrait for his 1976 Schenley Award win as the CFL's Canadian player of the year. Gabriel's name is engraved on a plaque in the shape of the Schenley Award that was attached directly onto Coulter's painting of the great tight end's face amid a rich blue background. The artist's familiar "Tex" signature appears in the lower left part of his portrait of Gabriel, which is tastefully framed with a plaque with "Winner 1976" engraved on it affixed to the bottom edge. From the personal collection of Tony Gabriel, this Tex Coulter original portrait is a unique work of art that also honors the beginning of a run of three straight outstanding Canadian awards claimed by the Ottawa Rough Riders great. Gabriel, who also was named top Canadian with Hamilton in 1974, capped his sensational 1976 season with a last-minute touchdown catch to lead the Rough Riders to the Grey Cup. This remarkable and very personal piece of art comes along with Tony Gabriel's signed letter of authenticity.
