Magnificent original painting of Marcel Bonin will make an outstanding addition to any shrine to the great Montreal Canadiens teams that won a record five straight Stanley Cups in the late 1950s. Bonin was the Canadiens' playoff hero in the spring of 1959 as the Habs became the first team to claim the Cup four years in a row. Renowned for wrestling bears, Bonin scored 10 goals in 11 games and added five assists for 15 points in the playoffs. A four-time Stanley Cup winner, including his first with the Detroit Red Wings in 1954-55, Bonin is depicted in his white Canadiens jersey, slamming on the brakes to send up a snow shower while looking straight at you with a determined grin. This detailed and colorful action portrait of Bonin on 30" x 24" canvas is signed "Yves Hetu 75" by the artist and presented in a 37 1/4" x 31 1/8" wood frame. Bonin posted consecutive career-high 51-point efforts in each of his last two full campaigns with the Canadiens before a severe back injury ended his career during the 1961-62 season.
