Simply amazing! Offered here are three original Burris Jenkins Jr. hockey cartoon drawings on vintage professional illustration board. The New York Journal-American illustrator was renowned for his sports-themed work in Gotham throughout the Roaring '20s and on through the Great Depression, World War II, and the post-war boom years. Jenkins provided illustrations for the Madison Square Garden programs for New York Americans and Rangers games. Lester Patrick figures prominently in "Calling on a Sick Friend", the title of one of the three original works that makes up this one-of-a-kind lot. A late season meeting between the Bruins and Rangers is titled "Sound and Fury - Signifying Nothing!" and "Help!" centers on a time when both Manhattan NHL teams were in the midst of lengthy goal-scoring droughts. Hand drawn in charcoal, pencil lead and black ink, these three original Burris Jenkins illustrations feature margin and editing notations. An incredible collection of vintage hockey artwork, each board measures approximately 18 5/8" x 22 5/8" and all three remain in great condition overall, particularly considering their vintage. What an incredible trio for display!
