Veteran goaltender Serge Aubry ended his playing career a champion as he helped the Quebec Nordiques to the WHA’s Avco Cup title in 1976-77. Serge played 21 regular season games and then appeared in three playoff tilts as Richard Brodeur carried most of the load in Quebec’s victories over New England, Indianapolis and Winnipeg. This personal miniature of the Avco World Trophy presented to Aubry is just under 13” high and features a silver-plated bowl atop a Lucite section containing a pewter globe of the world. An engraved metal plaque on the front has Aubry’s name while he and his teammates’ names are inscribed on another on the opposite side. A third plate reads “Presented to the Nordiques de Quebec - World Champions - 1976-77.” Produced by Balfour, the trophy is in excellent condition with removable tarnish and a minor ding on the base.
