Jean Beliveau Foundation Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/11/2008
The first hockey player to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated a year earlier, Jean Beliveau appeared on the cover of Reader's Digest in November of 1957, with this the wondrous shot being used. "Le Gros Bill" had lived up to all advance billing, establishing himself as hockey's premier center ice man with his 47- goal, 88-point MVP season of 1955-56, followed up by an 84-point campaign and his third straight selection as the NHL's First All-Star Team pivot. Originally obtained from Mr. Beliveau, the photograph is 13" by 15 and has been matted and framed to 19" by 22". A minor chip at the upper right corner of the frame is to note. An LOA signed by Jean Beliveau will accompany this special display piece.
