Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - October 2007

Jacques Plante and mask enthusiasts will be highly intrigued by this
early Fibrosport face protector, allegedly the first ever produced by
the Hall-of-Famer’s mask company in Magog, Quebec. Rather flimsy
plastic affair is somewhat reminiscent of the prototype mask Plante
used in practice with the Canadiens before making his historic masked
NHL debut. It was obtained years ago by a close friend of the Plante
family and includes chipped red, white and blue paint, minimal
interior padding and a “fibrosport” company decal. Complete with
straps which look to be original, it is a type the likes of which we
have never seen before!
