Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - October 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/23/2007
A late cut from the 1980 U.S. Miracle On Ice Olympic team following
four years at the
U. of New Hampshire, winger Ralph Cox played mostly in Finland in the
early-1980s, although he did get into three games with AHL New Haven
in ’83-84. Ralph’s untagged Nighthawks mesh jersey, with evidence of
a couple of nameplate changes and heavy use, was obviously also worn
by others. Dozens of black stick marks and general filth litter the
front and sleeves, with several hacks in the tackle twill crest.
With a double-cloth fight strap and a small rip at the base of the
neckline, the jersey is however hole and slice-free. “Cox” is sewn
onto a white tackle twill nameplate.
