Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
Fascinating entertainment in this unique collection which includes a scrapbook assembled by a Howie Morenz fancier who apparently also was a neighbor of the Morenz family! Ninety pages are loaded with pages from programs and newspaper clippings, mostly from the Canadiens’ 1930-31 Stanley Cup championship season and featuring numerous dandy caricatures of NHL players. A one-page letter written by Howie’s widow Mary and dated April 19, 1938, is to a photo-requesting “Mr. Bell” in Niagara Falls, NY and thanks him for the dollar he sent - “Howie Jr. is one dollar richer.” Signed “Yours respectfully, Mary Morenz”, it’s accompanied by the original envelope and two photos of Howie; one sitting on a tree stump and one standing on his walkway, along with two vintage copies. Wonderful Morenz items!
