The club’s 9th season of NHL action since relocating from Atlanta, the Calgary Flames captured their second-consecutive President’s Trophy in 1988-89 after losing a mere 17 contests, and defeated all competition including the mighty Montreal Canadiens to claim their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Lanny McDonald would register his 500th goal and 1,000th point during the campaign – his final season, and would score a goal in the Cup-clinching Game 6 of the finals. Hailing from his personal collection, we have a team-signed stick used by the HOF star during the Stanley Cup championship season of 1988-89. A Canadien 6001 model with “McDonald” stamped (with handwritten “9”), the original black tape remains on the blade and white ribbed pattern over the handle. Great game-use is exhibited, with heavy wear and marks to the blade and shaft, there is also areas of red and blue paint transfer visible. A signed LOA from Lanny McDonald will accompany.
21 have signed the front side shaft in matching thin dark ink which has slightly faded including McDonald, along with Theoren Fleury, Al MacInnis, Joe Mullen, Mike Vernon, Gary Suter, Joel Otto, Colin Patterson, Rick Wamsley, Brad McCrimmon, Mark Hunter, Jiri Hrdina, Dana Murzyn, Jamie Macoun, Tim Hunter and a few others.
