Originally from centerman Pit Martin’s personal collection, this Clarence Campbell Bowl was presented to Martin for the Chicago Blacks Hawks status as Western Division Champions in 1971-72. Standing 11” in height, a miniature plated Campbell trophy sits atop a finished 3” hexagonal wooden base with felt affixed to the underside. With chased features on the lid and bottom, engraved text proclaims “Chicago Black Hawk 1971-72 Hubert Martin”, while the back has “Clarence S. Campbell Bowl 1968”. The trophy remains in good condition with heavy tarnishing and surface loss, mostly along edges. There is also a fairly large blotch where the surface has chipped off, beneath the front text. The wooden base also exhibits wear. An LOA will accompany this important trophy.
This trophy was originally obtained from a hockey memorabilia dealer in Detroit, who had himself obtained the trophy directly from Martin.
Hubert Pit Martin would see action in 17 NHL seasons, shared amongst Vancouver, Boston, Detroit and Chicago. He would finish the 1971-72 campaign with an impressive 75 points in 78 games played.
