Drafted 33rd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1989 after playing his NCAA hockey with the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux, Greg Johnson would play in 785 games over the course of his National Hockey League career, suiting up for Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Nashville in that time. Offered here, we present this jersey worn by Johnson during his first season as a member of the Penguins in 1996-97. Made by Starter and featuring Center Ice Authentic Collection, brand and size "54-R" labeling affixed to the inner collar, Johnson's number "9" has been penned to the size swatch in black marker ink. Having had both the Starter and NHL shield logos embroidered into the reverse hem which has been folded up under itself and hemmed to Johnson's preference, the front of the jersey is decorated with "Pittsburgh" in individually applied tai-layer drop shadow tackle twill letters running diagonally down the chest from right-to-left while matching alternate logo crests have been placed over both shoulders. With Johnson's number "9" having been sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer yellow-over-white tackle twill numerals, "Johnson" is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back. Still featuring its fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits game-wear via stick marks and board burns over the front and both sleeves with a couple of other board burns observed at the lower reverse as well. Of note, a stain is found through the Penguins logo on the right shoulder that is worth pointing out for accuracy.
