Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
From the inaugural season of the WHA comes this Ben Hatskin Trophy that was awarded to the league top goaltender, Gerry Cheevers. Named for the founder of the Winnipeg Jets, the Haskins trophy was awarded every year of the leagues existence. Standing a full 18” tall and weighing in at a hefty 22 lbs, a cast bronze hockey glove rests mounted on a symmetrical 6” wooden base with inscribed plaque that reads in full “Ben Hatskins Trophy awarded to Gerry Cheevers for being selected Goaltender of the Year in the World Hockey Association 1972-73”. The base and plaque show some wear with tarnishing and a few scratches present, along with some expected edge wear to the bases corners. The glove itself is in very good condition also exhibiting some handling wear and light tarnishing, and it’s able currently to swivel on its base. A signed LOA from Gerry Cheevers will accompany this WHA award as well as an additional LOA.
