Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Honouring the one and only Great One for his time in sunny California, the Los Angeles Kings retired Wayne Gretzky’s iconic “99” at the start of the 2002-03 NHL season, with the club all wearing Gretzky jerseys with “99” numbers during the warm-up of the Oct 9, 2002 match vs Phoenix. We have the jersey worn by netminder Felix Potvin, signed by the pair, with the jersey warm-up worn while already signed! CCM labeling with a size “60” fly tag are affixed to the collar, with “39 Potvin” embroidered over the reverse hem. Featuring a tackle twill team crest and numbers with “Gretzky” across the nameplate in single black twill, there is also a “99” crest with “October 9, 2002” sewn to the right breast. Wayne has signed the first reverse “9” (with WGA hologram beneath), Potvin the second, with both silver paint pen signatures displaying well, with the Gretzky especially bright and bold, with just a few small touches to the signature. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Felix Potvin will accompany.
