Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Immortalized in a scene describing the finer points of the game, Charlestown Chiefs netminder Denis Lemieux (Yvon Barette) is also well remembered for his infamous line in Slap Shot – goaded on by New Braden – where he proclaimed in no uncertain terms, “Trade me right f**king now!”. We have a Charlestown Chiefs jersey that was worn in the film by the lovable Lemieux, with this example signed by the Quebec actor. Made of the highest quality material for the era, Rawlings size “48” labeling sits affixed to the collar, with no other tagging present on the wonderful durene film prop. Featuring the iconic “Chiefs” team crest fully administered in yellow and white layered tackle twill, the vintage blue V-neck has been accented with the sleeve and verso numbers in matching material, with the Charlestown All-American City shield crest over the left shoulder. A few dark marks are visible over each sleeve, along with a small hole and some red paint transfer near the right elbow. The reverse number is also somewhat “bunched-up”, with heavy fading to the “Charlestown All-America City” crest over the left shoulder. Barrette has signed across the lower front band in black marker, adding “Trade me right f**king now”, along with a signature for his character “Denis Lemieux”. With the success of the Ned Braden Slap Shot jersey in our last auction, we expect spirited bidding.
