Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
An important builder, along with his brother Frank as founders of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, Lester Patrick helped develop the early rules of the game, and enjoyed a successful career as a player, winning consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 1906 and 1907 with the Montreal Wanderers. Honoured with enshrinement in the International Hockey Hall of Fame in 1947 (the IHHOF was located in Kingston, Ontario, with the first 40 members honoured including Patrick recognized by the current HOF), The Silver Fox was presented with the certificate seen in the offered signed photo. At 8” x 10” with a stamp from Acme Newspictures on the reverse, Patrick is all smiles as he proudly displays the certificate, with a few presumed dignitaries from the Hall also posed. Patrick has signed within the bottom section of the certificate in ballpoint, with the signature a bit bunched-in, but displaying beautifully against the white background. The photo itself exhibits heavy wear including toning and creasing with numerous surface wrinkles, with a few small minor stains on the reverse.
