The first Olympics in which the National Hockey League took a break, allowing national teams to include NHL players from each country, the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano witnessed the Czech Republic capture the nation's first hockey gold medal, backed by the superb goaltending of Dominik Hasek. The stick was issued to Curtis Joseph (he served as Canada's third goaltender), and it has been team-signed by Team Canada.
A TPS model in solid red with "Joseph" stamped to the upper shaft, 22 have signed one side of the blade and paddle in black marker, including Joseph, along with Gretzky, Yzerman, Brodeur, Roy, MacInnis, Desjardins, Bourque, Sakic, Lindros, Fleury and others. The signatures display well, with light storage/age wear to the stick.
The stick is accompanied by a Team Canada jersey from an unknown year and made by Bauer with Pro Wear "54" sizing, with a screened Team Canada crest and no numbers. The jersey shows a few marks over the lower front and reverse. A Classic Auctions LOA for the stick signatures will accompany.
