Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

Once again battling their greatest rivals, Team Canada would play the Soviets in another eight game series in 1974, with the first four games in Canada, followed by the final four in Russia. Stocked with WHA players, three games would end in ties, with the powerful Soviets winning the other four out of five. We have a puck used by superstar Bobby Hull to score presumably his third goal of a hat trick vs the Soviets, in Game 4, on Sept 23, 1974. With just a tiny portion of the puck logo showing through, the puck which exhibits light wear has been covered front and back with period stick tape, with "Can-CCCP Hat Trick Vanc 1974" handwritten. Hull would net his goals all in the first period, at 12:45 (assisted by Frank Mahovlich), 15:11 (assisted by Pat Stapleton) and 17:45 (assisted by Andre Lacroix). Canada would tie the Soviets on this evening, 5-5. A signed LOA will accompany from the son of a close friend to Bobby Hull.
