The president of Princeton University for almost a decade during the early-1900s, Woodrow Wilson acted as governor of New Jersey from 1911 to 1913. Defeating incumbent Republican President William Howard Taft in the 1912 presidential election, Wilson served as the 28th President of the United States, in office from March 4, 1913 to March 4, 1921. We have a pair of signed calling cards, with an example from Wilson along with a card signed by First Lady Edith Bolling Wilson. At approx 2 ¾” x 4 ¾”, each card has “The White House Washington” over the upper right and has been signed in fountain pen, with the Wilson a beautiful thin flowing specimen (dated “17 March, 1913”), while the First Lady’s signature is thick and bold, with additional text preceding the signature. Each card exhibits toning, with this heavier on the lower portion of the Wilson-signed card which also sports a small crease, and along the top border on the card signed by the First Lady – which also has a bit of paper loss over the reverse, with “Mrs Harris Kirk recpt. Jan 7, 1916” written in pencil. Wilson passed away in 1924 at the age of 67. An LOA from JSA will accompany.
