Succeeded as Toronto Maple Leafs captain by Doug Gilmour upon his trade to the Quebec Nordiques in 1994, Wendel Clark would be sent east in a large deal that included Mats Sundin, and would play just a single season in the French capital. This photo-matched Nordiques alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the superstar during his lone season in Quebec, in 1994-95. A Maska Ultrafil label and size 56 fly tag are affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL logos gracing the lower hem. Styled with a layered tackle twill team crest, “17” appears over the sleeves and verso in blue-over-red tackle twill, with fleur-de-lis in matching material affixed over the lower front, reverse and shoulders. The fight strap has been customized with an extra clasp added, with the sleeves also custom-shortened. We should also note evidence of a former captain's "C" to the right of the alternate’s "A". An LOA and COR from MeiGray will accompany, along with five printed photos (two are used for the photo-match).
Exhibiting heavy use, the garment is slammed with puck and stick marks over the front and sleeves, with board burns and scuff marks also visible, with some light pilling beneath the fight strap. There are also a few blood stains over the left sleeve. Getty Image #72304746 (Feb 27, 1995) has been matched to a portion of the long black mark just above the blue cuff on the lower left sleeve.
