Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
It’s been just over 2 decades since the St Louis Blues acquired Wayne Gretzky from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Craig Johnson, Patrice Tardif, Roman Vopat, a first-round draft pick in 1997 and a fifth-round pick in 1996. “The Kings asked me if I’d like to play in St. Louis, and I told them I’d love to play in St. Louis,” Gretzky said at a press conference following the trade. “They wanted me, they’re excited to get me. I’m thrilled to be there.” According to HOFer Brett Hull and originating from his personal collection, we have a Blues jersey that Wayne Gretzky wore during the aforementioned press conference, with it signed and gifted to Hull. Appearing just beneath the collar in blue marker, the signature has bled only slightly, with “St Louis Press Conference” added just below. An LOA from Brett Hull will accompany.
Center-Ice tagging is present along the collar, with an attractive Blues team crest with “St Louis” embroidered-on. With slanted “99” sleeve and verso numbers along with “Gretzky” over the nameplate, the jersey exhibits just a few stains on the front, otherwise, it remains in wonderful condition.
