Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Hailing from arguably the best season ever witnessed in the history of the NHL, Wayne Gretzky would conclude 1985-86 with an unfathomable 215 points in 80 games, adding an additional 19 points over just 10 playoff games. We have a highly desirable stick used by Wayne originating from that very milestone season, and it comes with the added provenance of being one of the countless Gretzky treasures that originate from the incomparable holdings of collector extraordinaire Shawn Chaulk. A preferred Titan TPM2020 model in familiar white with red accents, “W. Gretzky” is stamped-on beneath handwritten “99”, with a date code along the underside of “25 Fev 1986” and a factory code of “1-002” beneath the heel. An LOA from Shawn Chaulk will accompany.
The gauze-style tape over white remains on the handle/knob which is void of a few strands, with the tape removed from the blade so that Wayne and others could add black marker signatures that have been damaged, with Wayne’s legible along with a fairly crisp example from Mark Messier. Game-use on the stick includes marks to the lower shaft, with some wear to the blade including chipping to the surface along the backside.
