Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
After a seemingly endless drought of a half century without an Olympic gold medal for Canadian hockey, the National Teams in 2002 didn’t disappoint, with the Men's and Women's teams both winning the coveted gold medal. This large framed display features a 2002 “Gold Medal Champions” leather coat signed by Wayne Gretzky. Puck crests with the victorious years listed sit in a vertical row on the left, while a Canadian flag patch is on right. 8” x 10” photos of both the Men's and Women's teams have been placed beneath, along with a small plaque and Team Canada crest. Wayne has signed beneath the coat’s emblem in fitting gold marker, and the signature is flawless. Set into a 39 ¼” x 48 ¾” style shadowbox, the display is ready to dominate any wall it’s placed on.
We should note that there are a few small scratches and marks on the frame itself, especially along edges. This is mentioned for concise accuracy, as these imperfections in no way infringe on the piece’s display value whatsoever.
