Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
From the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City where Team Canada won the country’s first gold medal in 50 years, we have a Roots Team Canada jacket signed by Team Manager Wayne Gretzky along with Jerome Iginla, Eric Lindros and one other. Additional signatures are also present from a trio of stars that helped Canada win gold in 1952 including team captain Bill Dawe, goaltender Eric Paterson and defenceman Don Gauf. A Roots label and “XL” size tag are affixed to the collar (with name handwritten), with “Roots” embroidered over the right breast and a leather crest over the left. “Canada” also appears over the verso in thick chenille. Gretzky and Iginla have signed within the leather section on the left sleeve in black marker, while Dawe, Paterson and Gauf have signed the right sleeve (Dawe has added a “1952 Oslo Gold” notation) with one other, and Lindros has signed over the team crest. The signatures display well, with Dawe, Paterson and Gauf all since passing.
