Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

Forever-popular and coveted are blue WHA pucks, with a couple of rarely-seen and ultra-intriguing specimens here. An Alberta Oilers biscuit with WHA reverse logo is much different, with its predominant white logo, than the all-orange Oilers logo normally seen. Biltrite “B2” slug has “OFFICIAL – CANADA – OFFICIEL” appearing on the side, one-above-the-other and “MADE IN CANADA” in tiny raised letters joining the league logo on the back. The other four are “B1” slugs, (without the notation on the side) and highlighted by a somewhat bizarre Quebec Nordiques puck (without a blue outline around the igloo, stick and puck). Experts know that pucks without the league logo on the reverse were also used in games, with Minnesota Fighting Saints, Cleveland Crusaders and Philadelphia Blazers pucks also possibly gamers from the WHA’s inaugural season. A nice bonus is a blank “red” prototype. Please see our website for condition details of these fabulous chip-free finds.
The Nordiques and Blazers pucks, along with the red slug, are in first-rate, difficult-to-hope-for nicer shape, while two pin/tack holes are spotted in the side of the three others, at approximately 12 o’clock. Not affecting their display-ability but to be mentioned and to be aware of. The latter three are also free of any chips or nicks or slices and contribute to a colorful and awesome six-pack.
