The last non-Original Six team to win the Stanley Cup, the Montreal Maroons catered to the Anglophones of Montreal, with the French population completely enamored with les Canadiens. The Maroons would ice NHL teams for fourteen seasons from 1924-38, with a number of notable HOFers dressing for the club including Clint Benedict, Lionel Conacher, Red Dutton, Hooley Smith and Nels Stewart. We have an impressive group of Maroons photos totaling 6, with team shots of the 1931-32 and 1934-35 Maroons along with examples featuring 11 dapper members in suits pictured during the mid-1930s and 9 members pictured in NHL jerseys playing baseball. There is also a Rice photo of Russ Blinco that has been signed, and a shot picturing Blinco with linemates.
The 1931-32 and 1934-35 (Stanley Cup champs) team photos have each been framed, to full dimensions of roughly 11” x 13” and 8” x 10” respectively. The mid-1930s photo that pictures 11 members in suits including Smith, Wentworth and Blinco is 8” x 9 ¾” and remains in wonderful condition with a slight bend, while the image picturing members in NHL jerseys is 5” x 7” and includes Blake, Blinco, Ward and others, and it remains in excellent condition with light surface wear. The Blinco signed example is roughly 7 ½” x 9 ½” and set in a vintage frame, with Blinco signing along with a personalization, with the signature faded somewhat. Lastly, the final photo pictures Blinco along with a pair of teammates and measures roughly 8” x 10” (framed), with some wear including surface indentations visible.
