Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Emerging originally from the travel trunk used by the Detroit Red Wings when the club still traveled by train, this circa early-1960s trapper is right-handed, and would have been worn most likely by Roger Crozier (1963-64 to 1969-70) or possibly Roy Edwards (1967-68 to 1970-71), as these are the only two netminders for the Motor City squad that caught with their right hand during the era. A Rawlings Claw baseball glove that was modified most likely by Red Wings trainer Lefty Wilson, the protective cuff has been professionally mounted, with this modification done seamlessly. The glove shows moderate to heavier use, with wear, marks and darkening to the cuff and pocket, along with scrapes and rubbing to the leather. We should also note that while we could note find any images of Crozier wearing this exact glove, it is possible it was used by him in practices.
