Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Presenting the two known Canadian tobacco tins that feature hockey graphics, we have a circa-1920s Puck Virginia Cigarette Tobacco tin and a 1940s “Hockey” cigarette tobacco tin. The Puck tin is 3 ½” in height with a circumference of 4”. Two period players facing-off have been added over each side, with the polychrome tin exhibiting remnants of tax stamps over the side and lid. The “Hockey” tin is 4 ½” in height with a circumference of 4 ½”. Sporting a generic player over each side, the tin feature’s both English and French text, with just a bit of glue residue from a previous tax stamp on one side.
The colours remain bold on the puck tin, with some oxidation/surface rusting to the lid and underside, with a few large dents present. The lid is also firmly affixed to the tin. The “Hockey” tin also exhibits some minor surface rust over the lid, with a few scratches and marks, along with a few small dents.
