Goaltender Ty Conklin owns the distinction of starting each of the first three outdoor games in NHL history! The 2008 Winter Classic patch is sewn on the right breast of this spectacular Penguins retro jersey that Conklin wore during the first period of Pittsburgh’s thrilling 2-1 win over Buffalo on New Year’s Day, with Sidney Crosby scoring the shootout winner. Penguins equipment manager Dana Heinze signed the fight strap in blue marker and his facsimile signature is on the 2008 Winter Classic team patch sewn inside the rear tail. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2003-2004 Season patch sewn inside the left rear tail has a registry number that corresponds to the one on the accompanying Penguins LOA.
Goalie style and size 58 flag tags sit in the back of the tie-neck collar. There are a couple of small black marks on the white portion of the team crest near the penguin’s skates.
Conklin started for Edmonton in the Heritage Classic in 2003, and Detroit in the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
