Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Impressive headgear was donned by Trevor Kidd in his first of two seasons with the Maple Leafs and exhibits significant game wear. The work of mask designer John Pothitos, the Kevlar and cage creation includes "Kidder 37" down each side and maple leaves at the chin and on the back plate, where Pothitos signed it. Complete with all original straps and interior padding, the mask features puck marks along with several nicks and scrapes in the cage, some of which show up in Getty images of Trevor wearing the mask. A one-inch crack is located on the back of the helmet. The sweat-stained terrycloth strip at the forehead and similarly stained chin strap are also of note. A big fan of Pothitos' work, Kidd first started wearing his designs in 1997. The maker signed the interior padding near the left ear, "Good Luck Trevor, John P." Photos of the two men together and an article on Pothitos will be included with this superior piece of goalie protection.
