Second behind just the Montreal Canadiens for all-time Stanley Cup championships, the Toronto Maple Leafs can boast the most enshrined HOF members, with 60. Hailing from the glorious Original Six era in the mid-1950s, we have a beautiful Toronto Maple Leafs wool sweater. A label from Leafs’ team supplier and fellow MLG resident Doug Laurie is affixed to the collar, with the vintage wool sweater measuring-out to roughly a modern size 42. Featuring an attractive wool Leafs team crest, “Toronto Maple Leafs” has been appliqued, with “24” over the verso in thick blue-over-white felt, affixed with a zig-zag sewing pattern. Exhibiting small holes over each cuff, there is a bit of wear to the team crest, with team repairs situated over the front (7), reverse (8), left sleeve (2) and right sleeve. Please take notice that we have compared the team repairs on the offered jersey with other game-worn examples from the era and we believe that the team repairs were made at a later date. We should add that some reinforcement threading has also been added to the reverse of the team crest at some point. Players that wore the #24 jersey for the Leafs during the era include Ron Stewart in 1952-53 (70 games), no one is listed as wearing #24 in 1953-54, Willie Marshall (14 games) and Dick Duff (3 games) in 1954-55, Earl Balfour in 1955-56 (59 games), Al MacNeil (53 games) and Mike Nykoluk (32 games - also wore #27) in 1956-57, and Al MacNeil (13 games) and Carl Brewer (2 games) in 1957-58.
