Featuring the second oldest professional hockey franchise in existence, the Toronto Maple Leafs are often referred to as Canada’s hockey team… just don’t mention it to the people of Quebec. This lot contains a great grouping of Leafs team-issued press photos totaling approx 148, and ranging from the Original Six era in 1958-59, to 1974-75. All glossy black and white prints with most in the 8” x 10” range and highlighted by a rarely seen photo set of 24 from 1958-59 (5” x 7”) with the original envelope including Horton, Mahovlich, Armstrong, Bower, Clancy and others, with each stamped by Turofsky over the reverse, also included, we have 11 photos from 1965-66 including Pulford and Stanley, 9 photos from the late-1960s including Bower and Stanley, 10 photos from 1971-72 including Parent and Baun, 10 photos from 1974-75 including Sittler, Ullman and Keon, 44 photos from 1975-76 including Sittler, and 40 photos from 1973-74 along with the original envelope including Salming.
The majority of the photos display well with light handling wear as well as the odd corner ding, crease or blemish, with the 1958-59 photo set displaying beautifully, with each player’s name handwritten over each respective reverse.
