Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The second Canadian MLB franchise to date, the Toronto Blue Jays are the current American League East Champions. This signed ball is from the club’s inaugural season in 1977. A Rawlings Blue Jays souvenir ball, 26 have signed in a few different inks, including Ron Fairly, Jim Clancy, Roy Hartsfield and others. The red-stitched ball and signatures remains in very good condition, with just some very light and even toning to the ball. Accompanying the signed ball is an opening game 2 ¼” x 7” full ticket, and it remains in stellar near mint condition. With a $3.00 price tag including tax, the Jays were able to defeat the White Sox 9-5 on that very day for the team’s first victory.
With no unsightly issues to note regarding the baseball, others who have added pen to hide include Jeff Byrd, Mike Darr, Dave Lemanczyk, Pete Vuckovich, Mike Willis, Roy Howell, Doug Alt, Phil Roof, Rick Cerone, Alan Ashby, Steve Bowling and Harry Warner. Also included is a small metal plaque with “1977 Toronto Blue Jays”, with contemporary logos featured on each side.
