Leading all shortstops in fielding percentage in both 1980 and 1982, Tim Foli appeared for numerous MLB clubs throughout his career including five seasons with Montreal in the early-to-mid-1970s. Playing in a total of 1696 games over the course of his 16-year career and registering a career batting average of .251, offered here is this Montreal Expos jersey worn by Foli during the 1974 season. A road powder blue polyester double-knit construction offering made by Wilson, a partially worn brand tag that displays a size "40" designation is sewn to the inner collar while a set/year tag reading "74 Set 1" is affixed over the lower front left tail. Styled over the left breast with an Expos team crest in layered tackle twill with "Expos" spelt out in individually stitched on blue letters below it, Foli's number "19" is found opposite it in dual layer blue-over-white tackle twill numbers, matching what is seen over the reverse as well. Exhibiting heavy signs of game-wear, consistent sun fading and evidence of numerous washings is seen throughout the entirety of the piece but heaviest over the shoulders for the fading and in the crest and numbers for the washings, likely suggesting that the jersey was recycled to the minor leagues after it's life in the Major Leagues. With all the original buttons found over the front placket and red, white and blue piping over the sleeves, additional signs of wear is present via dirty marks and stains over the front, reverse and shoulders while puckering is found behind the crest on the interior and sweat staining exists at both armpits. Finally, some of the stitching has let go on the reverse numbers.
