Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Goaltending legend Terry Sawchuk’s glorious 1965-66 Toronto Maple Leafs game-used stick is team-signed by 15, including deceased HOFers Tim Horton and Johnny Bower plus fellow HOFers Mahovlich, Keon, Armstrong, and Kelly. CCM Custom Pro gamer has blue ballpoint signatures along the front of the shaft. “Sawchuk” is stamped on the shaft below Terry’s tape job on the knob featuring well-worn white tape wrapped over black. The original tape jobs also remains on the blade and paddle, which displays red goalpost paint transfer and black marks, with additional paint transfer high on the shaft of this Sawchuk team-signed Leafs gamer, along with a few age cracks that start at the toe and run towards the center of the blade.
Ellis, Hillman, Boyer, Stemkowski, Kurtenbach, Baun and trainers Nayler and Haggert are among the others who have signed. The signatures remain in pleasing condition including the Horton, with just a bit of fading taking place. We should also note that the striping accent over the handle is held on by clear tape.
