Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
One of the most aesthetically impressive of all Team USA jerseys that saw use in international competition, this specimen was produced for the pre-tournament of the first Canada Cup in 1976. Patriotic knit jersey by Wilson has a company tag in the neck indicating size 44, with a Gunzo’s tag also present. A blue thread, chain-stitched “76” year tag is sewn in the inner hip area. The white stars and the red and blue number “6”s on the back and sleeves are in tackle twill and sewn-on. Chain-stitching on tackle twill is responsible for that gorgeous Team USA crest on the front. No one wore number 6 during the tournament; this one was an extra jersey given to tournament organizer Alan Eagleson by the Americans, and it originates from his personal collection. In beautiful like-new condition, there are just a few minor dirt stains on the upper left reverse.
