Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Exhibiting a certain gravitas associated with pre-Depression opulence, we have a rare and aesthetically pleasing antique Chesterfield cigarette advertisement that was originally employed for Roaring 20s use, most likely in a street car or trolley. Wonderfully executed in Art Deco splendor by illustrator L. E. Chambers, the approx 10” x 21” lithographed sign has been professionally adhered to a linen backing, with full dimensions of roughly 12” x 23”. Considering the scarcity of early quality hockey advertising in the hobby, this grandiose specimen is deserving of prominent display. As an added bonus, an original 8” x 11 ¾” Chesterfield magazine ad with matching imagery will accompany.
The advertisement remains in wonderful condition, with bright colours and just light wear. There are a few small pencil notations to the linen backing, with just light wear including a few small creases to the accompanying magazine ad.
