This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Wonderfully executed with the fluid movement and determined countenance of the legendary superstar perfectly replicated, this pleasing original painting of iconic Hall of Fame member Gordie Howe was expertly produced by noted artist Dewitt "Tex" Coulter. A former football star renowned for his artistic prowess, Coulter’s paintings were used for the cover images of "Blueline" magazine in the 1950s/60s, where he served as artistic director. At 20” x 24”, Howe is depicted in game-action, with each detail of the unique work flawless in both execution and likeness. Produced during the “Original Six” era, painted on artist board and framed to approx 24 ½” x 28”, the work remains in beautiful condition, and would fit nicely into any advanced Gordie Howe, hockey artwork or Tex Coulter collection.
