The franchise's fifth Stanley Cup championship, the Edmonton Oilers finished second in the Western Conference at the conclusion of the 1989-90 NHL season, and despite the loss of Wayne Gretzky the season before, the boys from Alberta were able to defeat the Jets, Kings, Black Hawks and Bruins, to once again claim Lord Stanley’s prestigious trophy. Awarded for Edmonton’s status as Campbell Conference playoff champions, we have a Clarence Campbell championship trophy that was presented to team therapist Stu Poirier. At 11” in height, the silver-plated handled cup with removable lid and chased detailing sits atop a hexagon-shaped 3-inch wooden base and is engraved “Stuart Poirier-Massage Therapist – Edmonton Oilers – 1989-90” on one side, with the name of the trophy and its "1968" year of inception on the other. Originating from Poirier’s personal collection, there is some light surface wear to the handles and the middle rim, with additional wear to the inside top section of the bowl and the lid’s finial. The edge of the lid also shows minor surface loss in a few spots along with a tiny edge bend, with these imperfections not visible when the lid is placed over the bowl. There is also a tiny bit of wear along the very bottom of the wooden base. The original soft blue cloth bag and black storage box with NHL decal will accompany (there is wear to the box and decal).
