A product of the Colgate University Red Raiders, Steve Poapst would go undrafted during his NHL Draft year but go on to play a total of 307 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of Washington, Chicago, Pittsburgh and St. Louis in a professional career that spanned between 1991 and 2006. Offered here, we present this photo-matched Chicago Blackhawks jersey donned by Poapst during the 2003-04 season. Made by CCM, a lone size "56" label is affixed to the inner collar while a CCM logo patch has been added over the reverse neckline. Accented with the NHL shield that has been embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with Chicago's famed Indigenous head team crest that features beautiful chain-stitched details throughout while matching tomahawk alternate logo patches have been placed over both shoulders, once again displaying with similar chain-stitched details. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Poapst's number "8" in dual layer black-over-red tackle twill numerals, "Poapst" is spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer black twill letters. Exhibiting good game-wear, a pair of team repairs are present over the right sleeve while stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves as well. Showing additional wear with light board burns over both sleeves and a small yellow coloured board paint transfer mark over the left arm covering, a Blackhawks team tag is sewn inside the reverse hem denoting the jersey as being a "2003-2004 1 of 2" offering. Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #53117545 (November 18th, 2003 vs Edmonton) to stick marks over the left sleeve, front hem and upper reverse. Of note, the nameplate on the back has a yellow hue to it, likely from the adhesive used to affix it before it was stitched down while sweat staining is found around the collar as well.
