Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
The “Inaugural Season” patch sits on the right breast of veteran forward Steve Maltais’ 2000-01 Columbus Blue Jackets game-worn jersey. Maltais demonstrated that sticking to it can pay off when he returned to the NHL for the first time in seven years during the Blue Jackets’ first season at the age of 31, when he played 26 games for Columbus. There are three team repairs on the left sleeve of his Blue Jackets gamer, which has size 56 and CCM flag tags in the back of the neck. There is another sewing fix low on the right sleeve and more solid game wear shows in black marks all over the front tail that attest to the clutch-and-grab tactics of that era. There are reddish-brown stains on the left breast and more black marks on the sleeves, which also display board burns. There is a small unrepaired burn hole on the right sleeve and some yellowing to the sewn-on nameplate’s fabric, mostly on the two ends. “Columbus Bluejackets (sic) Inaugural Season Jerseys customized by Cutting Edge Sports Set #1 2000-2001 Equipment Manager Tim Leroy” team stamp is screened inside the jersey behind the team crest.
