Winning the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the top defensive forward during his sophomore NHL season in 1981-82, Steve Kasper skated for four different NHL clubs, but is best remembered for his time with Boston. We have a photo-matched Bruins jersey worn by the Saint-Lambert native in 1985-86, where he appeared in all 80 games. Now void of any collar labeling, the CCM crest with asterisk in Bruins’ colours sits over the reverse hem, with the solid black V-neck garment measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with the iconic spoked-B team crest fully administered in layered tackle twill, “11” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with twin alternate crests over each shoulder. Originally purchased with the entire set of 1986-87 Bruins jerseys, the sweater is photo-matched to an included signed 8” x 10” photo.
With the nameplate most likely removed after the 1985-86 season and later restored, we should note that the current example doesn’t appear to show any wear. Sporting heavy game use with numerous black marks littering the front and sleeves, there is also some paint transfer, a few burns and pilling to the interior. Over 25 team repairs are also present, confirming prolonged use, with examples situated throughout, including over the shoulders, near the team crest, over each sleeve and encompassing the reverse numbers. The signed 8” x 10” photo has been matched to the black marks below the right sleeve’s number, and to the black mark in the lower portion of the second "1" of "11" on the same sleeve.
